Tấm was a kind-hearted girl living with her stepmother and stepsister Cám. Although being busy all day taking care of the family and household chores, Tấm was treated badly by Cám and her mother. After many challenges and difficulties, Tấm finally lived a happy life while Cám and her mother got what they deserved.

Tấm là một cô gái tốt bụng sống với mẹ kế và em kế là Cám. Mặc dù bận rộn cả ngày chăm lo cho gia đình và việc nhà, Tấm vẫn bị Cám và mẹ đối xử tệ bạc.

Sau nhiều thử thách và khó khăn, cuối cùng Tấm đã có một cuộc sống hạnh phúc trong khi Cám và mẹ cô đã phải nhận những sự trừng phạt thích đáng.

Once upon a time, the country was taken over by devils. The people depended on them for food and shelter and worked as sharecroppers on devils’ land. Buddha felt sympathy for the people. He helped them resist the cruel devils and took back their land. The devils were exiled to the Eastern Sea but begged Buddha for permission to return to the land and visit their ancestors’ graves for a few days.

From then on, during the Lunar New Year festival, people erect a New Year Pole so that the devils will not dare to approach people’s place.

Ngày xửa ngày xưa, đất nước bị quỷ dữ xâm chiếm. Người dân phụ thuộc vào chúng để có thức ăn và nơi trú ẩn và làm tá điền trên đất của quỷ. Đức Phật cảm thấy thương cảm cho người dân. Ngài đã giúp họ chống lại lũ quỷ dữ tàn ác và lấy lại đất đai của họ. Lũ quỷ bị đày đến Biển Đông nhưng đã cầu xin Đức Phật cho phép trở về đất và thăm mộ tổ tiên của chúng trong vài ngày.

Từ đó trở đi, trong lễ hội Tết Nguyên đán, mọi người dựng một cây nêu năm mới để quỷ dữ không dám đến gần nơi ở của mọi người.

As the legend goes: In the times of King Hùng the 18th, floods and storms had come so often that threatened the people and the country. The King wanted to find a talented person who could fight against the flood and build the country. Two men arrived at the same time: One came from the deep water and had the power to control the water level and all aquatic monsters, while the other came from the mountain and was gifted to convert the dry and stony area to fertile farmland giving fruits and flowers all year round.

Who would conquer the challenge and become the King’s son-in-law?

Theo truyền thuyết kể lại: Vào thời vua Hùng thứ 18, thiên tai, bão lũ thường xuyên xảy ra, đe dọa đến tính mạng của người dân và đất nước. Nhà vua muốn tìm một người tài giỏi có thể chống lại thiên tai và xây dựng đất nước. Cùng lúc đó, có hai người con trai đến: Một người đến từ vùng nước sâu và có khả năng điều khiển mực nước và tất cả các loài thủy quái, trong khi người kia đến từ vùng núi và được ban tặng khả năng cải tạo vùng đất khô cằn và sỏi đá thành vùng đất nông nghiệp màu mỡ, cho trái cây và hoa quanh năm.

During King Hùng the Sixth times, in Phù Đổng Village lived a boy named Gióng. By the time he was three years old, he still could not talk and just lay on his bed all day. At that time, the enemy invaded from afar. The King sent his messengers around the country looking for talented people. When the messenger came to Gióng’s village, he suddenly spoke up and requested to enlist.

The story of Saint Gióng is a story of a patriot with extraordinary strength and courage, representing the aspiration for independence and freedom of Vietnam.

Vào thời Hùng Vương thứ sáu, ở làng Phù Đổng có một cậu bé tên là Gióng. Đến năm lên ba tuổi, cậu vẫn chưa biết nói và chỉ nằm trên giường suốt ngày. Vào thời điểm đó, giặc từ xa xâm lược. Nhà vua sai sứ giả đi khắp đất nước để tìm người tài. Khi sứ giả đến làng Gióng, Gióng đột nhiên lên tiếng và xin được nhập ngũ.

Câu chuyện về Thánh Gióng là câu chuyện về một người yêu nước có sức mạnh và lòng dũng cảm phi thường, đại diện cho khát vọng độc lập và tự do của Việt Nam.
